A three-day World Peace Prayer will be held under the initiative of World Peace Dham Lumbini to pray for the eternal peace of those who lost their lives in the devastating Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and other affected areas, as well as for the speedy recovery of those injured in the disaster.
The prayer ceremony, including Chewa Marme Monlam prayers, butter-lamp lighting and prayers for world peace, will be held at the Boudhanath Stupa premises under the spiritual guidance of His Eminence Kyabje Shyalpa Rinpoche, the principal spiritual master of World Peace Dham Lumbini, on the occasion of the 21st day memorial ceremony of the Bhotekoshi flood.
The programme will be held from Bhadra 29 to 31, from 7:30 am to 10:00 am each day. According to World Peace Dham Lumbini, prayers will be offered for the liberation and peaceful passage of those who lost their lives in the disaster, the speedy recovery of the injured, and peace in Nepal and around the world.
Madhu Rayamajhi, a sewak of World Peace Dham Lumbini, said the programme was being organised to extend the message of peace, non-violence and compassion taught by Lord Gautama Buddha and to pray for the eternal peace of those who lost their lives and the speedy recovery of those injured in the disaster.
According to Rayamajhi, Shyalpa Rinpoche has been actively involved in spiritual and social initiatives promoting world peace. Various programmes have been organised under his guidance with the objective of developing Nepal as a centre for spreading the message of world peace. He said World Peace Dham Lumbini has also been advancing a global campaign for peace and non-violence from Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha.
Shyalpa Rinpoche said the prayer ceremony was being organised to pray for the eternal peace of those who lost their lives in the Bhotekoshi flood and for peace, strength and resilience among the affected families. He expressed the view that such spiritual activities are important for spreading Buddha’s message of peace and non-violence throughout the world.
Buddhist devotees, local residents, representatives of various organisations and other well-wishers are expected to participate in the programme. Various Buddhist, social and community organisations will support the event.
The Boudhanath Area Development Committee, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 6, Boudha Tamang Welfare Guthi, Om Tamang Sukh-Dukha Sewa Guthi, Chhyorten Tashi Tamang Gumba, Nepal Buddhist Peace Society, Nepal Bon Buddhist Federation, World Buddhist Forum Nepal, Nepal Tamang Ghedung, Rasuwa, and other organisations will provide support for the programme.
World Peace Dham Lumbini has expressed condolences to all those who lost their lives in the Bhotekoshi flood and appealed to everyone to participate in the programme and pray for the eternal peace of the deceased, speedy recovery of the injured, and peace, happiness and well-being of families affected by the disaster.
